Welcome to Our New Members ... and More Are Welcome, Too!

Posted: January 4, 2024

We will be working on several projects this year, including a redesign of he rear-field landscaping for Francis Field closest to the building at 2501 M Street, which will involve a new selection of plant species.

Rear Field Plan

This is all on public property and will require an approved plan.

We have little news to share on the progress of the $3-million restoration of Francis Field, which passed the D.C. Council and was signed by the Mayor in 2022. The funding was intended to expand the dog park and make the field safer for school and communitity activities. Only one community engagment meeting has so far been held by the District, and that was on March 2, 2023.

Our case in opposition to a transfer of jurisdiction of National Park Service land is still pending. (See second article below).

This will also be an election year, in which our Ward 2 member of the Council will be up for re-election, and all members of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission are up as well.

While we do not endorse candidates, we have traditionally taken an interest in voter registration and information.

As shown in the article below, Rebecca Coder Park, which became law in 2022, is ready to be dedicated.

We will be reaching out to our neighbors to get involved in projects that interest them. Please see our About page, and by the way, we are also looking for some help on the website. Meanwhile, Happy New Year!
